Free 2 Be Yoga
Specialising in Prenatal and Postnatal
Hi, my name is Esther McVicar, I am a passionate yogini, wife and mother of two beautiful children. Through my classes I hope to offer you the opportunity to not only move your body but most importantly provide a platform to enrich and enlighten your everyday life. My classes are suitable for students of all levels; if you have a mind and a body there is something truly enriching that yoga can offer you.
My first true introduction to yoga was at Sacred Cow Yoga in 2007 under the guidance of Bonnie Preston after a somewhat challenging, but in the end enlightening year. It was at this time I realised how critical a work/life balance is and that a prestigious job and money doesn't necessarily equal happiness. Unknowingly, Yoga opened an amazing journey for me and effective way to manage anxiety which had long plagued my mental health. It was during my pregnancies that my practice began to truly blossom and compelled me to begin my teacher training. I very soon realised that I had only ever touched on what yoga truly is and through my studies began to shine some light on what my practice could offer me and in turn I could offer others.
In August 2014 I completed my 350hr teacher training with YIMI under Celia Roberts and began teaching in my local community and through a wellness program with UQ. My education is a constant process and I relish the opportunity and challenge teaching prenatal and postnatal yoga; the place where my passion to teach yoga was ignited.
In June 2019 I finally handed in my final Hynobirthing Australia assessment and and now a certified practitioner. I am so looking forward to offering these amazing birth education classes in conjunction with the birthing and postnatal workshops already on offer!

"My only wish during my time with a student is that their practice will enlighten the most important aspects of their life. That is, their contentment within themselves and the resulting blossoming in relationships with others."
"Prenatal Yoga gave me the time and place to connect and just be with my baby without any outside distractions or 'to do' tasks on my mind. It helped me appreciate what my body was doing and gave me the confidence that I was capable and prepared going into labour. I also learned a few great breathing exercises and mantras that helped during labour"

"Prenatal Yoga provided that quiet time and space to honour yourself and your baby, as well as the sacred mother - child bond. It was also about finding a different kind of energy (often when feeling completely physically depleted). Through pranayama and asana I started to feel strength and comfort again in my body. Tapping into that energy just leaves you feeling strong, calm and connected."
